Languages & Translation
Set the language you speak and the language you want Stirae to write. For example, speak German and insert the result in English.
Languages available in the menus
The explicit language choices are English, Hindi, Spanish, German, French, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, and Polish. Auto-detect can recognize additional spoken languages beyond these menu choices.
Spoken Language
Open the menu bar and choose Spoken Language. Choose Auto-detect if you switch languages often.
Speaking a language that isn't listed?
Choose Spoken Language → Auto-detect to dictate in additional languages, including Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Persian, and Russian. These are examples; Auto-detect covers the languages supported by Stirae's multilingual speech recognition model. These languages are recognized through Auto-detect and are not individual choices in the current menu.
Speech recognition runs locally on your Mac. You can select Auto-detect from the menu bar after initial setup; the setup language dropdown contains only explicit language choices.
The menu bar setting updates your Default Profile. A matching profile can override it with a fixed spoken language; disable that profile to use the Default Profile's Auto-detect setting for that app or website.
Output Language (Translation)
Choose Output Language → Same as Spoken to keep the original language. To translate, choose one of the languages listed above. Auto-detect does not add output choices.
For Hindi text such as नमस्ते, choose Hindi during setup or under Spoken Language, and Hindi (Devanagari) under Output Language. These choices are also available in Profiles. Hindi speech with Hindi output does not require translation.

Translation and refinement
Translation can run with refinement on or off. When refinement is on, your Writing Style can shape the translated result too. When refinement is off, Stirae translates your words directly without reshaping them.
Translation requires cloud processing, even with refinement off. If processing is unavailable, Stirae keeps the text before translation. A matching Voice Shortcut skips translation.
