Privacy contact
Stirae is based in Germany. Contact support@stirae.ai about your personal data or this policy.
This policy covers our website, app, account services, downloads, cloud features, payments and email support.
Dictation and data on your Mac
Stirae captures microphone audio and transcribes it on your Mac. The standard dictation flow does not upload raw microphone audio or save recordings as audio files.
Settings, Profiles, Writing Styles, Vocabulary, Voice Shortcuts and local account and usage state are stored on your Mac. Sign-in also uses macOS Keychain. Local data can remain after sign-out; signing out is not account deletion.
The permissions you grant let Stirae capture audio, identify supported app or website context for Profile selection, and insert text. If insertion is unavailable, Stirae can preserve the result on your clipboard. Destination apps, clipboard tools, device backups and other software may handle that text independently.
Cloud refinement and translation
When you use cloud refinement or translation, Stirae sends text and the instructions needed for the request to Amazon Bedrock. Depending on the feature, this can include transcribed text, Writing Style instructions, vocabulary and language settings.
Turning refinement off does not by itself turn translation off. To avoid cloud rewriting and translation, turn Refinement Off and set Output Language to Same as Spoken. An account and valid entitlement are still required for productive dictation.
The Cloud processing location setting controls routing for these cloud features. European selections use EU geographic routing; United States selections use US routing; United Kingdom, India and Other use Global routing. This setting does not control all account, payment, support or website processing, and does not mean that every category of data stays in the EU.
Accounts, access and usage
Our account services use Amazon Web Services, including Cognito for authentication. They process account and contact information, authentication information, account and installation identifiers, access and subscription status, cloud-location choices and usage records. These records support sign-in, service access and enforcement of trial and subscription allowances.
Stirae reports completion of setup with an account identifier, installation identifier, completion and receipt times, and app version. This report records setup completion; it does not contain audio, transcripts, email text or billing details.
Ending a trial or cancelling subscription renewal does not itself delete your account or associated records.
Website and downloads
Serving pages and downloads involves technical request information such as your IP address, the requested resource and request headers. The website and app downloads use Amazon Web Services hosting and content delivery.
During speech-model setup or repair, the app can download a model from GitHub, with Hugging Face as a fallback. These providers receive the technical request information needed to serve the download.
Some website pages load Material Symbols icons from Google’s font service. On those pages, your browser contacts Google and sends technical request information, including its IP address. The legal-information pages use local styles and system fonts.
Selecting Watch demo loads a YouTube video player from youtube-nocookie.com in a dialog. Until you select it, the website does not request this player. Opening it sends technical request information to YouTube (Google), including your IP address and browser information. Playback and links within the player are governed by YouTube’s own terms and privacy practices. Closing the dialog unloads the player.
We use cookie-free statistics to understand website downloads, using a shared link marker rather than visitor identifiers. Event records are kept for 60 days. Our hosting provider processes the technical information needed to handle these requests.
With your consent, we use optional Google cookies to measure website use. Google’s privacy information.
Your cookie preference is saved in your browser for 90 days. You can change it at any time using Cookie settings in the footer where available. Withdrawing consent stops future optional cookie-based measurement; it does not erase cookies or information already collected.
The optional YouTube player is a separate third-party service. Other product examples run within the page. Support and legal contact links open your email application; opening a draft does not send a message.
Payments
Subscriptions and payment management use Stripe-hosted pages. Payment processing can involve your name, email address, billing address, payment details, transaction and subscription identifiers, transaction status, and a business tax identifier if you supply one.
Stirae receives billing and subscription information needed to provide paid access, administer purchases and meet recordkeeping obligations. Billing events processed by our service can include customer and billing information. Stripe also processes information for its own payment, fraud-prevention, security and legal purposes.
Email support
When you email us, we receive your email address, message and any attachments you send. Our mailbox uses Google Workspace. We use this information to respond, resolve your request and provide follow-up support.
Please do not send passwords, payment-card details, private documents or full transcripts. If information is needed to resolve a request, we can discuss an appropriate way to provide it.
Our retention policy for routine support correspondence is up to twelve months after resolution, with earlier deletion when it is no longer needed. We review the mailbox monthly. Records needed for legal obligations or an ongoing dispute are retained separately for that purpose.
Retention and account deletion
Request account deletion by emailing support@stirae.ai. Requests are handled manually. We may ask for information necessary to verify that a request relates to your account.
Our retention policy for accounts without current paid access uses the following deadlines:
- If you never start a trial or paid subscription: twelve months after registration.
- If you start a trial but never have a paid subscription: twelve months after the trial ends.
- If you previously had a paid subscription: twelve months after your most recent paid access ends.
These reviews and deletions are manual. Our policy is to email you thirty days before scheduled deletion. Starting a trial or paid subscription changes the applicable deadline; accounts with current paid access are excluded. You can request earlier deletion.
Deletion covers the sign-in account and linked account, usage, entitlement and setup-completion records. It does not remove data stored on your Mac or text already delivered to other apps.
Billing records required for tax, accounting or other legal obligations are retained separately for the applicable statutory period. Records needed to establish, exercise or defend legal claims may be kept for that purpose. Technical and security records are retained according to their operational purpose and applicable provider settings. Provider backups can expire on a different schedule from active records; deletion does not mean immediate erasure of every backup copy.
Why we process personal data
- Providing your service — Article 6(1)(b) GDPR: account access, requested cloud features, subscription administration and contract-related support where necessary to perform our contract with you or take steps you request before entering a contract.
- Legal obligations — Article 6(1)(c) GDPR: tax and accounting records and responses required by applicable law.
- Legitimate interests — Article 6(1)(f) GDPR: delivering and securing the website and service, preventing abuse, recording setup completion, resolving general enquiries and communicating with business contacts. We consider these purposes against the interests and rights of the people concerned.
Account information is needed for account-based use; billing information is needed for paid purchases. Cloud rewriting and translation are optional. You choose what to include in a support email. Without information necessary for a requested feature or purchase, we may be unable to provide it.
When you use Stirae for an organisation or provide information about other people, that organisation’s responsibilities and the basis for supplying that information must also be considered.

These services can involve affiliates and service providers in other countries. Model downloads also involve GitHub or Hugging Face. Your cloud-location selection does not set the location of every service.
For transfers outside the European Economic Area, the relevant provider terms include safeguards such as European Commission standard contractual clauses where applicable. Contact us for information about the transfer safeguards relevant to your data or to request a copy.
Your rights
Depending on the applicable conditions, you can request access, correction, deletion, restriction of processing and data portability. You can object to processing based on legitimate interests. Where processing relies on consent, you may withdraw that consent without affecting the lawfulness of earlier processing.
Contact support@stirae.ai to exercise your rights. We normally respond within one month; if the law permits an extension, we will explain it within that first month.
You can complain to a data-protection supervisory authority, particularly where you live or work or where an alleged infringement occurred. Our local authority is the Hamburg Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information.
